Several weeks ago, news came that Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television was developing a new TV show based on Minority Report with a script by Max Borenstein (Godzilla). Now, it has definitely been confirmed since Fox had put a pilot commitment on the project with the aim of developing a potential series for next year.
Produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Paramount TV, the series is based on the Spielberg directed film of the same name. Minority Report was the well-received Spielberg actioner that starred Tom Cruise as a man possibly wrongfully accused. In actuality, he has been predicted to become a murderer by psychics used in future crimes. Indeed, Cruise’s protagonist was the lead officer of “PreCrime” until the precogs suggested that he would murder a man believed to have killed his son. The film was based on a short story by Philip K. Dick and earned more than $350 million worldwide. It also won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film of that year.
