Anne Hathaway takes on giant lizards in Colossal
NewsGiant lizards have been wreaking havoc on the big screen since King Kong defended Fay Wray. One of my favorite bad films of all time was the 1950s teen screamer The Giant Gila Monster. Now Anne Hathaway will make lizards a little less miserable. The actress is set to star in Colossal, the new monster movie from writer/director Nacho Vigalondo, who made Timecrimes, Open Windows and a directed a segment for the horror film V/H/S.
“Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one. Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations,” Vigalondo said in a statement.
Voltage Pictures describes Colossalas Godzilla meets Lost in Translation. Anne Hathaway is set to play Gloria, a woman loses her job and fiancé and moves back to her hometown where she has a rebound relationship with a giant lizard.
The lizard is one of those bad boys. He has a bad rep because he laying waste to Tokyo, which is Godzilla territory.
According to the official synopsis: “Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is strangely connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.”
The movie is being paid for by Voltage Pictures who will launch it at Cannes.
