Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them looks like it's about to secure Eddie Redmayne as its lead...
NewsIt's already proving to be quite a year for actor Eddie Redmayne. He, of course, won best actor at this year's Oscars for playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything, and already he's being tipped for more awards attention for his work in the upcoming movie The Danish Girl.
Now? It seems he's about to land the lead role in the Harry Potter spin-off trilogy, starting withFantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
Redmayne had been rumoured earlier in the year to be up for the part of Newt Scamander (a role Matt Smith was linked with at one stage), but Variety now reports that there's been progress. Redmayne is now apparently in official talks to take on the role, having seen a draft of J K Rowling's screenplay for the movie and been "very happy" with it.
David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter films, is already confirmed to direct Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and the first film in the new trilogy is set for release in November 2016. The hunt is now on for four young leads for the series too.
