Tink is to star and be produced by Reese Witherspoon, with Finding Dory's co-writer penning the script.
NewsIn the past year or two, a succession of projects have been revealed by Disney, that aim to turn some of its animated classics into live action features. Tink, a movie outing for the character Tinkerbell, actually predates that trend, with this particular project having been in development since 2010.
Back then, Elizabeth Banks was attached to play the lead role, but it seemed that Tink gradually fizzled out. Until now at least.
For while Elizabeth Banks no longer seems to be involved, Reese Witherspoon very much is. She's signed on to star in and produce Tink, which is also getting a new screenplay from Victoria Strouse. Strouse has co-written the upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory.
The pitch here is that we're getting the Tinkerbell story we apparently didn't know, and it's said to be a relatively modest film in budget terms.
A director hasn't come aboard Tink yet, and right now, Disney hasn't confirmed a release date either.
