The Transformers franchise writer's room adds two new writers to a table that includes Akiva Goldsman and Robert Kirkman.

For years now, we have talked about blockbuster television, and the increasing serialization of once standalone filmmaking. But one must credit Paramount for skipping all pretense of “universe building” and getting right down to what audiences want. Because whatever you might personally think, millions of audience members out there on the global market clearly do want more Transformers movies (the last one earned $1.04 billion worldwide), and they’re about to get them.

Hence, the growing television styled “writer’s room” at Paramount meant to deliver just this kind of frequent product for viewers. Previously, Paramount had announced Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Batman & Robin) would be overseeing the writer’s room while more genre friendly scribes like Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk) would also be participating.

Well, at the very least, they’re also getting a unique perspective going for the next batch of Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg produced Transformers movies, because Deadline is now reporting that Christina Hobson and Lindsey Beer are also going to be pitching ideas for a possible Bumblebee spin-off film and the Autobots origin movie, Transformers One.

Hodson is currently coming off penning The Fugitive remake at Warner Bros. while Beer is rising from spec scripts, including one for the upcoming Disney sci-fi/fantasy feature, Dig. Beer also is writing a new remake of The Wizard of Oz at Warner Bros. as well.

Despite the fact that both seem to be adding Transformers movies to a shared plate of remakes, it is actually good news to hear that a feminine voice could be added to a franchise that’s currently most famous for CGI robots and close-ups of Megan Fox bending over a car. Surely, this has to be a step-up for the series….it better be since the plan is going to be to have potentially multiple Transformers movies in any given year…
