Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow admits Joss Whedon might have had a point over an out-of-context clip of his film...

A minor-ish internet storm appeared to brew a month or two back, when Avengers: Age Of Ultron director Joss Whedon posted a comment with regards a clip of Jurassic World that Universal had released. On his now-deleted Twitter account, Whedon wrote that "I'm too busy wishing wasn't 70's era sexist. She's a stiff, he's a life-force - really? Still?" This was in relation to the interaction between Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard's characters.

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow is currently on the interview circuit for the movie, and Bad Taste asked him what he thought about Whedon's words. Turned out he saw the point.

"I wasn’t bothered by what he said about the movie and, to be honest, I don’t totally disagree with him," he said, questioning why Universal chose that particular clip in the first place. Trevorrow said of the clip that it "shows an isolated situation within a movie that has an internal logic. That starts with characters that are almost archetypes, stereotypes that are deconstructed as the story progresses."

With regards Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Claire, he added that she was "the real protagonist of the movie."

"There’s no need for a female character that does things like a male character, that’s not what makes interesting female characters in my view. Bryce and I have talked a lot about these concepts and aspects of his character," he said.
