Universal is moving ahead with a writer on Pitch Perfect 3. It looks like it will be an aca-trilogy.
NewsWhatever your thoughts are on Pitch Perfect 2, it most definitely is singing with many audiences since it’s already earned $250 million at the box office, and it hasn’t even left the stage. So unsurprisingly, an encore is on the way, and Universal Pictures has already tapped its next writer for the project—Kay Cannon, who scripted the original Pitch Perfect film and this summer’s latest musical hit.
As according to THR, Pitch Perfect 3 will likely see the production budget go up not least of all because there are currently no deals in place for the talent to return; and a Pitch Perfect movie without Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and the rest of the Barden Bellas just isn’t perfect at all. In addition to luring back the talent, there will need to be a reason for these ladies to reunite for a capella once more since they all graduated in the last film. We’re sure Cannon and Universal can find a reason besides the obvious box office bonafides this will bring about.
