Denzel Washington looks set to return for The Equalizer 2, which Sony has now confirmed for September 2017.
NewsIt may have had little to do with the TV series on which it was supposedly based, yet Antoine Fuqua's film of The Equalizer - was a good hit last autumn. Even before it was released too, there was talk of a sequel. The subsequent box office performance of the film - it took $192m worldwide off a $55m budget - make a follow-up even more likely, and just a few weeks back, Sony confirmed the sequel.
Now we learn, and this isn't a surprise, that Denzel Washington is all but certain to return for the film (well, there isn't much of one without him really). He's currently making The Magnificent Seven with Fuqua, although it's unclear if the director himself will be back. Fuqua, after all, passed on the sequel to one of his other hits Olympus Has Fallen.
The Equalizer 2 will be released on September 29th 2017. We have no further casting details as of yet, but we'll keep you posted as we learn more.
Don't expect this one to bear much of a passing resemblance to the TV show either, would be our guess. What would Edward Woodward make of it all, eh? We don't know, but Edward Woo... ah, you can see where this is going...
