The Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum has finally landed a director, and it's a good one...
NewsThe Gambitmovie has been waiting in the wings recently, allowing the sugar high of all the Deadpool movie announcements to die down, while Bryan Singer continues to tease X-Men: Apocalypse on social media. Channing Tatum has been locked up to star for what feels like ages, the movie has a release date, a script is in progress by Chris Claremont and Josh Zetumer...so what was missing?
Oh, yes...a director. There had been talk that the Gambitmovie was reaching out to some directorial heavy hitters over the last few months. We were beginning to suspect that 20th Century Fox was holding this announcement for San Diego Comic-Con, but now, they have found, not only a good director, but one with a bit of a blockbuster pedigree.
Rupert Wyatt who did us all proud with Rise of the Planet of the Apes will direct the Gambit movie. With all the talk about how Gambitwill be a "non-traditional" superhero movie, maybe the guy who brought us one of the more "non-traditional" blockbusters of the last few years is the man for the job.
We'll find out when Gambithits theaters on October 7th, 2016.
