Paul Feig's new Ghostbusters film had targeted Emma Stone for a role, but she turned the chance down...
NewsWhen it was first announced that Paul Feig was to put together a Ghostbustersmovie headlined by women, one of the names that instantly sprang to mind was the wonderful Emma Stone. Yet when the official casting announcement came out, it turned out that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones were named as the new Ghostbusters.
So then: was Emma Stone overlooked? Absolutely not. Instead, she turned the movie down.
Chatting to The Wall Street Journal, Stone confirmed that she had been approached about the film. "The script was really funny," she said. "It just didn't feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole 'thing'. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."
That water, in this case, presumably refers to her two Amazing Spider-Man films, where she stood out along with Andrew Garfield.
It's not clear which Ghostbustersrole Emma Stone was offered, but it's a fair bet it was one of the leading four. And we're guessing that her contract would have been for more than one movie too.
The full interview with her is here. Ghostbustersarrives in July 2016.
