Plus, Channing Tatum answers the big question: what was Jupiter Ascending all about?
NewsThe promotional tour for the upcoming Magic Mike XXL is underway, and Channing Tatum has been doing a Reddit Ask Me Anything session as part of that. And in said session, somebody asked him about his upcoming X-Men work, specifically the Gambit spinoff film, that's due in October 2016.
It was recently revealed that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is the man who's going to direct the film. And when asked what he could say about the Gambit movie, Channing Tatum wrote that "we finally found someone that I really do believe wants to make Gambit, it will be the second standalone character. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity. Marvel’s done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s always good to figure how to change the form."
He was further asked whether we can expect him to make a cameo appearance in Bryan Singer's currently-shooting X-Men: Apocalypse movie. And the answer there would be no. When asked if he'd be in the film, he replied "No ma’am, or sir. I definitely will not."
The full session can be found here. Our favorite moment? When he was asked "Jupiter Ascending? What was that?". His reply: "Great question. I have the same one to myself."
Magic Mike XXL arrives at the end of July.
