The Kojack movie starring Vin Diesel is still alive, and now has a new writer.
NewsWe had almost forgotten about the fact that Vin Diesel is set to play the title character in a big screen version of the classic Telly Savalas cop show, Kojak. There's been little movement on this one for so long that we almost assumed it had fallen by the wayside, even though he did at least mention it last year.
The Kojakmovie still doesn't have a director, but it does have a new writer. Philip Gawthorne (Eastenders) has been brought in to rewrite a draft done by the Skyfallteam of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
Kojak, in case you don't know, is the story of tough NYPD Lieutenant Theo Kojak, a well-dressed, lovable, tough, and honest detective. It's not too difficult to see Vin Diesel stepping into Telly Savalas' shoes for this.
