Chatter continues about Hellboy 3, as Ron Perlman argues "the Hellboy saga was meant to have a beginning, a middle and an end".

News

Back on June 3rd, Ron Perlman wrote a simple Tweet. It read "Anybody out there wanna see #HellboyIII as much as I do? Let's get this muthafucka trending, y'all! Let's end the trilogy; we earned it!"

It would be fair to say that it got a response. In the days that followed, Hellboy III chatter was not in short supply, and hopes were raised that the trilogy would get its long-awaited final chapter.

We've been waiting some time, after all. Hellboy IIwas released back in 2008, and both Perlman and director Guillermo del Toro have at differing times hinted that a Hellboy III was in the works. We've just never seemingly got close to it.

With a bit of luck, Perlman has lit the touchpaper. "I found out I hit a nerve that I didn't even know was a nerve," he's told Variety.

He added that "the discussion has now overtaken me rather than me overtaking the discussion. And here I am in Monte Carlo, working on my sun tan, and people are still asking me about Hellboy 3, so I guess it’s still news."

Furthermore, "I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve been telling everyone else, the Hellboy saga was meant to have a beginning, a middle, and an end, and that, if you were loyal enough to us where you came and watched both those two movies that we made, we owe you a resolve ... I think it’s a discussion worth having, and I think it’s something we owe the fans, and I’m being very clear about that with..."

Perlman admitted that he's not spoken to Guillermo del Toro since he sent out his Tweet, but that the two are in touch. That said, it's del Toro's schedule that's likely to be one of the stumbling blocks here. He's about to hit the promotional trail for Crimson Peak, and then he's got Pacific Rim 2 to prepare for summer 2017.

More on Hellboy 3 as and when we hear it. But while we've got you, let us recommend an earlier Ron Perlman movie to you. It's 1995's The Last Supper, a really good indie drama. Job done.

Variety.
