Mr. And Mrs. Smith game show in development

This just in from our you-couldn’t-make-this-up department: a Mr. And Mrs. Smith game show is currently in development. 

The rights to the 2005 feature – which of course starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – have been picked up by reality TV producers 3 Ball Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s unclear exactly how the new game show will adapt Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg’s film, but one can only assume that unhappy couples on the run from the Colombian authorities are the only people permitted to apply.

This is just speculation on our part, but perhaps eligible couples must also meet the requirement of having withheld a massive secret (preferably a prolific assassin career) from each other in order to qualify for the televised show.

Presumably, a constant threat of death will follow, with each contestant’s employers turning up on set as special guests, and subsequently attempting to murder them.

The reward for escaping death may well be a renewed sex life, and/or a Hollywood superstar for a spouse.

There is a slim chance that the Mr. And Mrs. Smith game show could just be a fun caper of a program where couples compete for prizes by pretending to assassinate a series of actors. We wouldn’t hold our breath on that one, though.
