Watch Ant-Man hit his enemies with the velocity of a speeding bullet in this new extended Ant-Man promo.

Some heroes start small. It is the tagline in the latest extended TV spot (or really a mini-trailer) for Marvel’s Ant-Man. Yet, it also appears to be a preemptive mea culpa for selling a film around a superhero who shrinks to the size of half-a-penny. Then again, vaguely self-deprecating worked for the talking raccoon, so Marvel and a very game Paul Rudd are probably on the right track.

In the below video for Ant-Man, watch new footage of Rudd’s amusingly cheeky superhero lead his friends and also his insect brethren (both flies and ants) into war against an undoubtedly delusional Corey Stoll.

Ant-Man is the infamously troubled Marvel property that has been in pre-production since the original Iron Man film was but still a glimmer in Jon Favreau’s eye. Originally set to be written and directed by cult comedy filmmaker Edgar Wright, the picture lost its director and a chunk of its cast in 2014 when Wright and Marvel Studios could not reconcile differences. The picture has since been taken on by Peyton Reed (Bring It On) and still retains its leading cast of heroes that includes Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a small time crook who is put on the straight and narrow path of superheroism by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). Thus Lang becomes the Ant-Man, a superhero who shrinks to the size of his buggy fellows.

Ant-Man opens July 17, 2015.
