Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now have our first glimpse of Aaron Eckhart as the famed monster from Mary Shelly’s fever dream imagination. See Aaron Eckhart as the titular I, Frankenstein.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Kevin Grievous (co-creator of the Underworld universe and the actor playing Raze in those films), I, Frankenstein tells of a hellacious underworld all its own, one where gargoyles and demons vie for power through horrific violence. As a man apart from both sides, Adam (Eckhart) is Baron Victor Frankenstein’s creation. His immortality is a curse that both sides covet.

Written and directed by Stuart Beattie, whose eclectic writing credits include 30 Days of Night, Australia and GI Joe: The rise of Cobra, the film includes an intriguing supporting cast with Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto and Jai Courtney.
Personally, I actually like it goes somewhat back to Shelly’s original idea of the creature being beautiful in his own Enlightenment Era way. Naming him Adam and casting Eckhart seems to play into that to a point, though he clearly still has his Karloff scars. And with a title like that, he hopefully utters about his name at some point, “IT’S FRANKEN-SCHTINE!”
