In the first trailer for Saving Mr. Banks, we are apparently told the true “untold” story of how Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) convinced a reluctant P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) into letting him adapt Mary Poppins to film. He learns the true meaning of the story is saving Mr. Banks and we learn that Disney, the studio producing the film (not the man), hopes to save an Oscar for next March.
Directed by John Lee Hancock of The Blind Side and The Alamo, this Walt Disney biopic winningly throws a little fairy dust on the creation of one of cinema’s greatest musical and family film classics, as well as on the heydays of early Disneyland, which is recreated in its 1960s glory. The trailer also promises a behind-the-scenes film meant to explore the painful influences that helped create one of film’s great icons.
The project also stars Ruth Wilson, Colin Farrell and Paul Giamatti.
Saving Mr. Banks will fly into theaters on December 13.

Meh...
I wanted to like this more that I actually did. I'll hold out hope that it's just the trailer that isn't smartly crafted.
