There's no Jean-Claude Van Damme. But that remake of Timecop is still happening...
Announced last year, things had been quiet with regards the planned remake of Timecop, the 1994 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme (back in an era when Van Damme movies regularly got a cinema release). Until now, at least. For just when you thought the project may have quietly died a death, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that's not the case. In fact, a pair of new writers have now been hired to take a crack at the screenplay.
Mark and Brian Gunn are the writing pair concerned. They've previously penned Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, and we're told that "this version of Timecop is a more gritty and grounded police story with the sci-fi in the background, though it will still have the main character on a personal journey". Gritty? Less sci-fi? Er, perfect.
There's no word yet on a director or potential casting. That'll follow once the script is locked down though. We suspect we'll hear more about the new Timecop later in the year...
