Futuristic indie thriller Cigarette Girl moves from the smoking section to your home
Massive withdrawal can kill you and sometimes it takes forever to die. Archer Records and Guerrilla Monster Films is releasing Mike McCarthy’s 2009 futuristic non-anti-smoking movie Cigarette Girl on DVD and digital streaming services on May 20, 2014.
Cigarette Girl disappeared after a short regional run after it was first put out, but it was not extinguished. Cigarette Girl takes place in 2035. Smoking is against the law except in the national Smoking Section. Cigarette Girl is dealing pure menthol at prices that are nothing to cough at. Cigarette Girl, of course, doesn’t smoke. Her grandmother died of empysema. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t get the cravings.
Cigarette Girl is coming out in a Limited Edition with an autographed DVD copy of Cigarette Girl in 5.1 surround sound and stereo; a CD of the original motion picture score by Jonathan Kirkscey and Director's Commentary by Mike McCarthy. The DVD also contains short films featuring the stars of Cigarette Girl.
Mike McCarthy’s Cigarette Girl was made to be seen in a Drive-In Movie, speakers hanging in the windows, sky above and six people in the trunk getting in for free. It has the right kind of pulp-punk mix that makes for cult sleepers. Cori Dials plays Cigarette Girl. Cigarette Girl stars also stars Helen Bowman as Grandma and Lary Love Dolley as Hat Check Girl.
