Enough Said, which stars James Gandolfini in one of the last films he shot before he died at 51, will debut at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 20. Enough Said was directed and written by Nicole Holofcener, who made Walking and Talking and Please Give and also stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who currently stars on HBO's Veep, and Catherine Keener and features Toni Collette, Ben Falcone, Eve Hewson, Tavi Gevinson and Tracey Fairaway.
According to most published reports, Enough Said will be Gandolfini’s last film, but according to IMDb he still has a movie called Animal Rescue set to be released next year. Also, although we reported that HBO passed on Gandolfini’s Criminal Justice pilot, and HBO just announced that they wouldn’t be airing it, there’s always a chance it may turn up somewhere.
The romantic comedy sets Gandolfini up with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She plays Eve. She’s divorced, her kids are moving out and she’s looking for what to do next. She decides to do Albert, who’s funny and a mensh, but he used to be married to her new best friend, played by Catherine Keener. So, she’s got to tiptoe around a lot to make it all work out.
According to a statement that was issued soon after James Gandolfini’s death, Nicole Holofcener said the former head of the Soprano family “didn't believe he could play a romantic lead, even though everyone on the set thought he was sexy and hilarious. He was charming and self-effacing and incredibly talented. Not only did he pull off playing a leading man, his performance is subtle and moving and very, very lovely."
