Once you’re on HBO, you’re almost guaranteed a lifetime of quality, or at least interesting, work. Indira Varma, who played Niobe (Lucius Verenus’ wife, the one who got pregnant when she thought he was dead) on Rome is set to play Ellaria Sand on the fourth season of Game of Thrones. Ciarán Hinds who played Caesar on Rome, joined Game of Thrones last year as Mance Rayder as well as Tobias Menzies, who played Brutus.
Ellaria Sand is the lover of Prince Oberyn Martell AKA “The Red Viper,” aka Pedro Pascal. She’s said to be sexually adventurous.
Besides Rome, Indira Varma can be seen in Human Target on Fox and Silk and Hunted and played in the Bollywood classic, Bride and Prejudice with Aishwarya Rai.
David Benioff, who throws the dice for the Game of Thrones, promised that season four will be the best so far. He said, “We got more action, which is obviously more time consuming. It’s a brutal shooting season ahead. But if we can make it through, yeah, I think it’s going to surpass season three. The last 3 episodes, there’s so many scenes we’ve been waiting for so long to do. And it just gets more and more fun to write for these characters. After three years of doing it, we have that much more comfort to make everything uncomfortable for them. We’re very excited for it.”
