Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to the Conan franchise has been rumored for some time now, but more than one movie may be on the cards according to Fredrik Malmberg, CEO of Paradox Entertainment, who hold the rights to the Conan franchise. Here's what he has to say on the matter: “We have a great story, everyone loves it. This is a role that's perfect for Arnold and he's very involved with the whole Universal team. Arnold has been very instrumental to bringing this together saying, 'we gotta make a good Conan!'”
I thought the most recent Conan movie was good, but the fact that it struggled to make half of its budget back has seemed to put an end to Jason Momoa's time as the character.
Malmberg continued: “I think if we do this right, we can do two more Conan movies right after, I think Game Of Thrones also shows huge interest in fantasy. I'm psyched about it.”
It's worth noting that the Game Of Thrones effect did little to help Conan The Barbarian, which had a Game Of Thrones cast member in the leading role, though it's fair to say the show had only been out a few months prior to release.
Malmberg went on to state that the original would pick up many years after the original: “The idea takes place after Conan has been king, but this is the legend of Conan where he has been gone and people say 'do you remember the good ol' days when Conan was around?' And now it's time for him to come back.”
Only time will tell if anything will come of this. More news on Conan when it's available.
