Josh Brolin will play Thanos in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie and beyond...
Marvel has known who their Thanos is for quite some time, but now so do we. It looks like Josh Brolin will give voice to Thanos in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The news was first reported byLatino Review, and was soon confirmed by Variety, Deadline, and others.
We reached out on our own, but Mr. Brolin's representatives had no comment on the matter.
Brolin joins a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel. It's likely that Thanos has a fairly small role in Guardians of the Galaxy, but will be fairly important to future Marvel films like Avengers 3. Deadlinereports that Brolin was actually cast several months ago and has already completed all of his voice work for the film, which lines up with Kevin Feige's comments earlier in the year that they had already found their Thanos, but weren't quite ready to talk about him yet.
Thanos has been lurking in the shadows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the stinger in The Avengers, a moment which saw the character's stock skyrocket with fans. With James Gunn's recent comments about how Guardians of the Galaxy is connected to Avengers 3 (and keep in mind, we're still 11 months away from Avengers 2), it's been an open secret that Thanos would make some kind of appearance in the film.
More on Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 3as we get it.
