Here's a fresh new look at the film adaptation of the YA Lit classic, The Giver.
Over at Yahoo!, they're "giving" an exclusive look at the brand new trailer for The Giver.
Based on Lois Lowery's 1993 young adult science-fiction novel of the same name, The Giver is set in a supposedly utopian society where members of society are predestined for a role in the community. Once a young adult becomes sixteen, they are assigned their new job, and newly sixteen Jonas is assigned the position of Receiver of Memories. The things Jonas learns of the past begins to complicate the things he considers for his future.
Starring Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and newcomer Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, the film also features singer Taylor Swift in her first serious film role. The film has been pursued as a passion project by Jeff Bridges for many years, with the role of the Giver originally intended for his father. Now Bridges himself, at 64, will tackle the part.
Head over to Yahoo! for the trailer, or just look out below. The Giver hits theaters August 15.
