New "Dawn" featurette fills in the gaps between the new film and its 2011 predecessor.
As July 11th looms closer, 20th Century Fox is offering more and more looks at one of their biggest summer releases, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film is the sequel to Ruppert Wyatt's 2011 surprise smash Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Taking place a decade after the events of the first film, Dawn centers on the human survivors of the Simian Flu and their war against the the genetically evolved apes led by Caesar of the first film.
In a new featurette released to MSN, "Rise to Dawn" fills in the gaps between the two films, chronicling the fallout from the release of the Simian Flu via fake news reels, photos, and web searches. The ominious tone of the featurette is only a taste of what audiences can expect from Dawn when it arrives July 11th.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russell. You can see the new featurette over at MSN, or you can watch below.
