Marvel are getting set with a screenwriter for the Doctor Strange movie, shortlist buzz for actors grows...
Doctor Strange recently found a director, and now it's time to get that screenplay in magical shape. Jon Spaihts is currently in negotiations to write Doctor Strange. No word on what this means for the Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer first draft, though.
Spaihts is best known for Prometheusand he's also on-board for Universal's 2016 Mummyreboot. Doctor Strange, the first "supernatural" Marvel movie, tells the story of Stephen Strange, an arrogant surgeon who turns to mysticism when all else seems lost, only to eventually end up as the Sorcerer Supreme, defending the planet against all manner of magical menaces. Scott Derrickson (Deliver us From Evil) is directing.
Deadlineare still stoking the fires of that leading man shortlist, as well, reiterating the three names we've most heard kicked around: Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, and Jared Leto. We expect to see Doctor Strange some time around 2017.
