Channing Tatum in talks to star in new Coen Brothers movie with George Clooney and Josh Brolin!
The tide has certainly changed for star Channing Tatum. Once known for his smooth moves and matinee idol looks, in the last several years he has landed multiple films with eclectic auteur Steven Soderbergh and he is the headline star of the most outrageous buddy cop comedy duo in ages: 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street (personally, we can’t wait for 2121 Jump Street).
But perhaps the biggest vote of confidence for the man who has talked to us about playing Gambit has come from the recent revelation by Variety that Tatum is in talks to star alongside George Clooney in Hail, Caesar.
The latest film from Joel and Ethan Coen, Hail, Caesar already has Clooney as well as Josh Brolin signed up. This is Clooney’s fourth collaboration with the duo and Brolin’s third Coen film.
Set in the 1950s during the height of Hollywood power, Hail, Caesar is a comedic account of MGM’s most powerful handler. With more stars than in the heavens, MGM was Hollywood to countless moviegoers, and Eddie Mannix was god to those stars. A personality connected to everything from Show Boat to George Reeves’ controversial death, Mannix is a name that is still well known in Tinsletown.
