Predator reboot? Not so fast, says Shane Black!
When news broke yesterday of a Predatorreboot, the internet scratched their heads. Sure, the involvement of Shane Black, who not only had a small role from the original Predatorbut is an impressive action film writer/director, made us feel a little better. But the question of actually rebooting Predatorjust seemed a little odd.
After all, it's not like you can do much with that survival/action story that the original didn't do perfectly, and we don't need a radical re-design of the creature, right?
It would appear that it seemed odd to Shane Black, too. He told Collider, "Why start over when you've all this inventive mythology to mine?" So, we can now safely say that the next Predatormovie is, in Mr. Black's words, "an inventive sequel" and not a reboot. He told Collider that the new film would be focused on "expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the reset button."
That's a relief. So does this mean we can start referring to this as Predator 4? Predators 2? AvP...oh, you get the picture.
