Lionsgate has tapped two of the writers from X-Men: First Class, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, to pen the Power Rangers reboot.

Since the news came from Lionsgate that there would be a new Power Rangers reboot, a rush of ‘90s nostalgia swept the Internet like a viral Buzzfeed list. However, it was immediately followed by a very sensible question: how in Zordon’s blue floating head are they going to do that?

Well, getting two of the writers who helped successfully rebuild the X-Men brand this decade is certainly a smart way to go. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been tapped to write the script for the upcoming superhero team adventure.

Further still, Roberto Orci, one half of a writing partnership with Alex Kurtzman that gave us such gems as Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will also be executive producing the Power Rangers film. Orci is currently also preparing to direct Star Trek 3(he co-wrote the last two J.J. Abrams entries), but he will be helping develop Power Rangers’ story with Miller and Stentz.

In addition to Miller and Stentz working on X-Men: First Class—the final draft was written by director Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman—the two have also helped script 2011’s Thor.

Power Rangers was originally a 1990s TV series and global marketing franchise, initially called The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, that used footage from a Japanese children’s show. It first aired on Fox Kids then in the 2000s on Disney-owned channels. A movie also hit theaters in 1995 starring most of the original American television cast.

The new movie promises to completely re-envision the Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.
