Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson get "super illegal" in the new Let's Be Cops red band clip.
It's been a good year for Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. Johnson has seen his stock rise considerably after being the breakout star opposite Zooey Deschanel on New Girl, and his newest film starring role, Drinking Buddies, has been a sleeper hit on Netflix. Damon Wayans Jr. didn't need help getting his start in the entertainment industry, being the son of Damon Wayans and part of one of the most famous families in comedy, including his uncles Keenan Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans, but he's distinguished himself with great work on the much loved ABC comedy Happy Endings and he even got his guest turn as Coach on New Girl bumped to a series regular.
Now the duo will see what they can do at the box office. Their new film, Let's Be Cops, is slated for release on August 13, and the R-rated comedy finds the two comedic actors pretending to be cops for a costume party, then liking the implied power a little too much. Naturally, they get entangled in some real crime and find themselves in over their heads.
We have a new red band clip of Let's Be Cops, which shows Johnson's character explaining how he acquired such an authentic looking police car and just how illegal the whole thing is. The clip isn't long, but manages to pack in a few laughs in such a short amount of time. The premise for the film is pretty standard, but Johnson and Wayans really seem to liven the whole thing up, and their chemistry together is undeniable.
Be sure to catch Let's Be Cops when it hits theaters later this summer on August 13, 2014.
