Watch the first clip from the zombie comedy Life After Beth, starring Aubrey Plaza, Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, and Molly Shannon.
Love can be tough. Particularly when it is your first teenage love. And really particularly when one of you is kind of, technically, sorta’ dead.
But that’s just how one must cope with Life After Beth, the latest in a growing subgenre of zombie romantic comedies. This time the titular walking corpse, played by Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza, has her brains mostly about her still—as well as those of a few corpses that she has happily consumed. But a girl’s got to do her thing, right?
For obvious reasons this has led the grieving boyfriend Zach, played by Dane DeHaan of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in a confused state. Thus enter his hapless parents (John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon) who have decided to keep Beth’s new condition from him until the clip below blew up in their face.
Written and directed by Jeff Baena, Life After Beth is previewing on DirectTV and will have its theatrical premiere on August 15, 2014.
