Dwayne Johnson keeps getting more specific about which DC hero he's playing...and who he almost played.
The Rock is many things, but he isn't shy. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been linked to a DC Comics superhero movie. At one point, it sounded like he was even going to play the villainous Black Adam in a Shazamfilm, but those fell through. Then there was all the John Stewart/Green Lantern talk, which we thought was mere speculation, but now ol' Rock has confirmed that it was a part he was interested in.
It gets juicier, though. In an interview with Total Film, it sounds like Dwayne has all but confirmed that he's playing Shazam.
“There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon, that I’m going to play, and…I’ll just say this, he has the power of Superman, and it’s not Green Lantern, by the way. And believe me, John Stewart, he was a character I wanted to play, but there was already a version of Green Lantern, and so we’ve gone in a different direction. But this character has the power of Superman, he can throw down…just say the word. That’s all I’m going say.”
Three things to note, here. When he says "we're going to announce very soon" we assume this will be at San Diego later this week. It's also interesting that the John Stewart/Green Lantern connection was more than speculation and that it was actually discussed. And finally, c'mon, "just say the word." What word might that be, Rock? A magic one? One that might grant the star of this week's Herculesfilm "the strength of Hercules?"
