The Tremors series is getting a reboot - one that won't trouble the inside of a cinema, by the looks of it...
1990's Tremorsis a film that holds a special place in many of our hearts, being as it's one of the very best and most joyously entertaining monster movies of the decade.
It's already seen a whole bunch of sequels to date, but news now reaches us that a reboot of the Tremorsseries is on the cards. What's more, it's a reboot that looks like it's going to target direct to disc and video on demand rather than trouble the big screen.
Director Don Michael Paul, on his blog, has revealed that "after I finish up Company Of Heroes: The Fourth Reich I will be headed to Johannesburg, South Africa to reboot the Tremorsfranchise for Universal. Big year ahead and I’m excited to keep it going with the support of all you genre movie lovers out there".
Don Michael Paul has already directed a fair few direct to disc/VOD sequels, such as Sniper 5: Legacy, Lake Placid: The Final Chapter and Jarhead 2.
As for the new Tremors? In truth, this one sounds like a reboot on the cheap. The original film was hardly opulent, granted. Here's hoping Don Michael Paul can do something to match the standard of that one.
