Blumhouse Productions and Focus Features have slated an August 2015 release date for the next adventure of Bughuul in Sinister 2.
It is said, according to the original Sinister movie, that anytime someone sees the Babylonian deity Bughuul, a child loses his or her soul. Then with the latest success that Blumhouse has been having this summer (and really for seven years running) get ready to suffer the children.
Blumhouse Productions, fresh off inking a production deal with Universal Pictures that assures 10 years worth of horror films and TV micro-budget scares, has slated along with NBCUniversal owned Focus Features its next film: Sinister 2.
The follow-up to the 2012 hit that starred Ethan Hawke seeks to chronicle the continuing adventures of Bughuul on August 21, 2015. And considering the first one made $87 million on a $3 million budget, it is likely safe to assume that the fun will continue well after that.
The director of the first Sinister, Scott Derrickson, went on to direct this summer’s less stellar horror movie that starred Eric Bana, Deliver Us From Evil. However, clearly his knack for the occult from Sinister, as well as The Exorcism of Emily Rose, has served him well since Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios has tapped him to direct Doctor Strange.
Derrickson will return to produce the project alongside Jason Blum and eOne. But directing duties have now passed to Ciaran Foy.
