"It couldn't work out", says Benedict Cumberbatch, of playing Doctor Strange for Marvel...
One of the many surprises that people are expecting from Marvel over the Comic-Con weekend is the reveal of just who's going to playing Doctor Strange in Scott Derrickson's upcoming movie based on the character. A lot of fan money, as it often is, is on Benedict Cumberbatch at the moment, and he's already at Comic-Con for his work in The Hobbit and The Penguins Of Madagascar. It wouldn't take much for him to saunter over to Marvel's panel too.
However, in a chat with MTV, he's played the rumors down. "As far as I'm aware, even if that was the case, it couldn't work out because I'm doing a little play called Hamlet in London", he said in response to the rumors. "So I don’t think I could even if that was in the cards. It sounds like a fantastic project. It’s a shame if I miss out, but who knows?"
Interestingly, when asked if there had been any talks about the role, he say "I couldn't possibly comment".
Make of all of that what you will...
