Marvel officially confirmed the details of who Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll are playing in Ant-Man.
Why it has taken this long to confirm this information officially is anybody's guess. At San Diego Comic-Con, during Marvel's Hall H panel, official confirmation finally came that Evangeline Lilly (who had been denying she's even inAnt-Man as recently as the day before) and Corey Stoll are the female lead and villain, respectively.
Lilly will play Hope Pym, the daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and, presumably, a Janet Van Dyne that we may or may not ever see on screen. “We’ve been fans of Evangeline for years, and couldn’t be more pleased that she’s agreed to join us on Ant-Man’s journey to the big screen,” said Marvel’s Kevin Feige in a statement. “We look forward to audiences learning more about her character when she joins forces with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in 2015.
Corey Stoll, on the other hand, is Darren Cross, the Yellowjacket, who will get his hands on some Pym particles and cause all kinds of trouble. "Corey brings depth to every role he plays,” said Feige. “As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel's best antagonists."
The Hall H panel also screened some new footage from Ant-Man, which included Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) riding a flying insect while the voice of Michael Douglas guides him along. Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed and will hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
