What you need right now is a mix-tape that has an interstellar pedigree. Check out the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

Of the many things we love about Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, the touching friendship between a vulgar talking space raccoon and a tree with a vocabulary of three words, several other things that we won't spoil here), the soundtrack is pretty high on the list. A brilliant mix of 1970s soft (and not so soft) rock and soul tunes, this is what Chris Pratt's Star-Lord travels the galaxy grooving to.

And who wouldn't? Allow us to heartily recommend the flawless AM radio power pop of The Raspberries "Go All The Way," Norman Greenbaum's sublime "Spirit in the Sky," or the immortal David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream" (home of the greatest one-note guitar solo in rock history), and, of course, The Runaways'"Cherry Bomb," all of which should be enjoyed at maximum volume. Or pick your own favorites. You mostly can't go wrong. Alright, there's one exception.

Anyway, start a cosmic party of your own with the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack...erm...we mean "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" right here.

Tyler Bates' heroic space opera score is pretty great, too. Maybe we'll add that later on. But for now, it's the weekend...so dig yourself some rock n' roll tunes.
