After an opening weekend that defied expectations, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 release date has been announced.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot just scored the fourth largest August box-office opening weekend in history with a $65 million domestic take. You know what that means, right? It's time to talk sequel. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2will arrive on June 3rd, 2016. Michael Bay will once again produce and screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec will return.
Despite a critical drubbing (we didn't exactly love it), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was able to hold off the much more well-received Guardians of the Galaxy (which shattered box-office records its opening weekend), which took in $41 million at the US box-office this time around. While this latest TMNT origin story isn't exactly brilliant, there's a certain appeal in seeing more fantastic elements from the Turtle mythology realized on screen. Let's not forget, the original Turtles sequel Secret of the Oozefailed to deliver us a suitable Bebop and Rocksteady, for example.
Regardless of your feelings about this new version of the TMNT franchise, you should join us on August 22nd for a screening of the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesmovie in NYC. We've got the details of that right here for you.
