Martin Lawrence will once again team with Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer for Bad Boys 3.
Martin Lawrence hasn’t shown up on the big screen recently, with his last feature film being Big Momma’s House: Like Father, Like Son back in 2011, but the actor is back in the spotlight recently to promote his new FX series Partners, where he and Kelsey Grammer play a team of Chicago lawyers. Out promoting the new show, Lawrence stopped by Conan, looking noticeably slimmer and in high spirits.
After chatting about his new workout routine, Conan gets around to asking Lawrence if there is a possibility of a new Bad Boys film. It has been 11 years since Bad Boys 2, but back in July, Jerry Bruckheimer talked about outlining a script for Bad Boys 3. In his response to Conan, Lawrence pretty much confirms this, saying, “I believe so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it’s real; they’re working on a script, they’re getting close, and it all looks good.”
Lawrence’s other Bad Boys co-star, Will Smith, doesn’t seem too keen on sequels these days, turning down the chance to appear in a follow up to his mega-hit Independence Day, and there has been no mention of whether he would be involved in a Bad Boys sequel, but when Conan said that he’d like a cameo in the film, Lawrence replies, “I will mention to Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer that Conan wants a cameo in the movie,” so maybe the star has been in talks about reteaming with Lawrence and Bruckheimer.
Partners premiered on FX August 4. If the first ten episodes perform well, FX is set to pick up 90 more episodes, so we may be seeing a lot more of Martin Lawrence.
