Simon Pegg reveals that he and Edgar Wright have talked about doing a new movie, and a title has already been written.
You better open the freezer and make sure you have plenty of ice cream, because this Cornetto Trilogy just became a tetralogy.
Despite the actual trilogy having ended with last year’s The World’s End, which was a spiritual follow-up to Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007), star actor and co-writer Simon Pegg has revealed that he and director Edgar Wright are talking about doing another film together.
When speaking to BBC6 Music, Pegg said, “Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We're kind of into a creative cycle now. We've all got different things [going] on and we know we have to get those things done. The coming-together thing is without question on the table and will happen when we can do it.”
So, it does not sound like it will be occurring in the immediate future. However, it is gratifying to know that one of the most creative collaborations in modern comedies that has for three-films running (plus one brilliantly short-lived TV series in Spaced) simultaneously satirized American genre filmmaking while honoring it with a truly individual perspective, will work together again. We’ll happily dig into more of this kind of fun than any pint-sized studio formulae now in production.
