The sewers and underground world of Paris are famous for their twisted, buried secrets. Often called the world’s largest mass grave, there are countless forgotten dead buried in those architectural wonders—and there are other forgotten horrors just waiting to be discovered by the unwise who disappear too far down the labyrinth of the dead.
As marked in As Above, So Below, one of the first collaborations between Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures, the catacombs of Paris are the resting place for the Gates of Hell, and beware any urban archaeological student who thought they were making a documentary. You just stumbled into the found footage horror subgenre, baby.
A little bit The Blair Witch Project and a-lot-a-bit The Descent, As Above, So Below seeks to find out just what secrets the dead shall keep underneath the City of Lights. Hint: if there’s any illumination, it’s coming from a place below where you do not want to go.
As Above, So Below opens on Friday, August 29th.
