The legendary Marvel writer and Marvel Studios executive producer spoke a little about solo movies for Black Widow and Black Panther.
We're not sure just how truly newsworthy this is, since it seems like it's common knowledge at this point that Marvel Studios would like to make movies featuring Black Panther and Black Widow. The fact that this latest confirmation comes from Stan Lee, who has an honorary Executive Producer title bestowed on him, and not from someone like Kevin Feige, probably means that both of these projects are further off in the future than we would probably like. Nevertheless, while speaking at Fan Expo over the weekend, Stan Lee seemed to confirm that a Black Panthermovie is in development at Marvel.
At a panel entitled (what else?) Marvel Presents: The Legendary Stan Lee, the writer and co-creator of much of the Marvel Universe dropped the Black Panther news amidst his usual talk about his role in the company's long history. What's more, he seemed to indicate a Black Widow solo movie is in the cards, too, but we've heard that one before.
"We haven’t made a Black Widow movie but she’s been in some of our movies, and she will be featured more prominently as we move forward. And the chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, and the Black Panther and there are others I am not allowed to talk about."
Lee has made remarks like this in the past at conventions, so this isn't necessarily earth-shattering news. Nevertheless, we'd like to think that The Inhumans and Captain Marvel are two of the films he's "not allowed to talk about," but that's just us. We have our own breakdown of what we expect the Marvel superhero movie release calendar to look like right here.
