Steven Soderbergh isn't directing the now-shooting Magic Mike XXL, starring Channing Tatum. But he's still behind the camera....
The sequel to surprise hit Magic Mike has begun shooting, it's been confirmed, with Gregory Jacobs taking over as director from original helmer Steven Soderbergh. The new film, Magic Mike XXL, still has Soderbergh involved however, as he's acting as director of photography, camera operator and film editor on the new production.
Channing Tatum reprises his role in the sequel (and he's co-written the film again, with Reid Carolin), which is set to arrive in cinemas on July 1st, 2015. Co-stars include Joe Manganiello and a likely returning Alex Pettyfer. Matthew McConaughey, however, is not expected back.
