Ryan Reynolds was amazed at how much traction that leaked Deadpool movie clip got on the internet.
Ryan Reynolds was Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He was also Deadpool in test footage shot for a Deadpoolsolo movie. He might be Deadpoolagain if that movie ever gets made, but we don't recommend you hold your breath. Whoops.UPDATED: The Deadpool movie now was a release date.
Mr. Reynolds is aware of the sensation the leaked footage from the Deadpoolmovie caused when it was released. It still doesn't sound like we're going to see it any time soon, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean that the people involved haven't taken notice.
"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually."
That social media love-fest for the Deadpoolmovie was deserved, and one of the writers even started a Twitter campaign to help get the movie back on Fox's radar.
There are conspiracy theorists out there who think that maybe 20th Century Fox deliberately leaked the footage in order to gauge fan interest for a Deadpoolmovie. If that's the case, they have their answer. However, the round of legal notices and constant takedowns of the footage seem to indicate otherwise.
By the way, you can still watch that Deadpoolmovie footage right here. We have a guide to the characters that the movie contains (we've read the screenplay) that you can read here.
