The Fantastic Four reboot has taken the place of the Assassin's Creed movie on the 20th Century Fox release calendar.
If the success of Guardians of the Galaxy taught us anything, it's that an August release date is no longer anything to be ashamed of. Hell, even TeenageMutant Ninja Turtles, a movie with little in the way of positive word of mouth, thrived there. And August is where Josh Trank's new Fantastic Four movie will end up, thanks to yet another date shift.
This one, at least, seems to have little to do with the actual Fantastic Fourmovie, and more to do with issues that the Assassin's Creed movie is having. The Assassin's Creed movie, which stars Michael Fassbender, has been quietly moved to an unspecified date in 2016, and the Fantastic Fourhave stepped in to take the August 7th, 2015 release date.
More on both projects as we get them, but Fantastic Fourhas been extraordinarily secretive. The good news is, this allows extra time for what is certainly going to be an effects-heavy movie to get its act in order. More importantly, it will allow Fox to showcase the film at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con a month before release. That should help build some buzz...
