Who wants to play Black Panther? Has Luke Cage been cast? Is there another Hulk movie coming? Ummmm...
It's been uncommonly quiet on the Marvel front for the last couple of weeks. That's probably because they don't want to draw too much attention away from the Agents of SHIELD season two premiere. They're probably also trying to lock up who is going to wear Doctor Strange's cloak of levitation in time to make an announcement before New York Comic-Con.
But there have been rumblings about other things here and there. They aren't much, but they're something.
Let's start with how Michael K. Williams really wants the lead in the Black Panther movie. He told CinemaBlendthat while he hasn't been approached yet, he is "looking forward to being a part of the franchise." When asked who in particular, he replied "Black Panther...definitely."
That sounds like good casting to us.
Meanwhile, Idris Elba, who was apparently once up for the role of Luke Cage anyway, seems to have some information that the rest of us don't. When asked whether there was a chance if he could still take the role during a Reddit AMA (which comes to us via ComicBook.com) he said "Uh, I think there's an actor already signed on for it, fortunately or unfortunately."
And then there's good ol' Lou Ferrigno, the original Jade Giant, and the man who voices the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He claims that the Hulk TV series (which once had Guillermo del Toro attached) is still alive and well, and that Marvel are planning another solo Hulk film. "I think in another year, they’re going to film a solo Hulk movie,"he told Film Fad."But I think the series can happen if they finish doing the Avengersor the Hulkmovie, that’s my guess for now."
It seems we've heard this before, though.
