Don't expect a Marvel Hawkeye movie starring Jeremy Renner. But do look out for Hawkeye in Captain America 3...
We're going to be seeing Jeremy Renner reprise the role of Hawkeye for Marvel and Joss Whedon in next year's Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but rumours persist that we may yet get a solo movie for the character at some point in the future. Renner, however, has been chatting to MTV, and the subject of Hawkeye came up. It seems that Renner is content being one of the team.
"I'm happy to be the ensemble," he said. "I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means." Of the character of Hawkeye, Renner said that "I think he's a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit, especially Cap 3. There's whispers of that".
Given how secretive Marvel tends to be about its films, we'd take "whispers" to mean "strong possibility" if one of its actors is openly talking about such an appearance. Renner, incidentally, is currently shooting Mission: Impossible 5.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron lands in cinemas on May 1st, 2015.
