Ahead of the release of The Penguins Of Madagascar, DreamWorks Animation may have new owners...
Crikey. It's not been the easiest times of late for DreamWorks Animation, whose slate of projects haven't done quite the business at the box office that had been expected. That said, its next film, The Penguins Of Madagascar, looks a safe bet when it arrives in November.
However, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that the firm may be sold. SoftBank, described as a "Japanese conglomerate," has reportedly valued the company at $3.4bn, and a deal may be close to being announced. Part and parcel of it would see co-founder and CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg tied to a five year contract to stay with the firm.
No side is commenting on the deal as of yet. We will keep you posted.
