After Maleficent and Cinderella, Beauty And The Beast is getting the live action treatment from Disney...

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that one of the live action tellings of a classic tale that Disney is working on is Beauty And The Beast. This follows the studio's success with Alice In Wonderland and Maleficent, with live action takes on The Jungle Book and Cinderellaalready on the way.

Beauty And The Beast is to be directed by Bill Condon (Gods And Monsters, the last two Twilightfilms), and we learn now that it's going to be written by Stephen Chbosky. Chbosky previously penned The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (directing the movie too), and EWreports that his screenplay will be based largely on Disney's superb 1991 animated telling of the Beauty And The Beast story.

There's no word yet as to when to expect the film. We'll keep you posted, though.
