There is a Tetris movie being assembled by the producer of the Mortal Kombat movie.
All you hand-wringers concerned about the glut of superhero movies will look back on the summer of 2014 like it was the golden age of Hollywood one of these days. Why? Because someone is making a Tetrismovie, that's why.
If there's anything going for this, it's that Tetris: The Motion Picture (not its actual title) comes from Threshold Entertainment and Larry Kasanoff, who produced the best video game movie ever made (it's true) Mortal Kombat (he also produced Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, but anyway). Mr. Kasanoff promises that Tetrisis "a big, epic sci-fi movie." He even told The Wall Street Journalthat "This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes.”
Whew. That's a relief. I was about to get worried about this one.
"In this new universe, as you’ll soon find out," said Henk Rogers, Managing Director of The Tetris Company, "there’s much more to Tetris than simply clearing lines."
Of course there is.
